First Two DVDs

I am very excited about both of my first two DVDs, and I am not alone.

Here are some of the email comments I have been honored to receive about them.

“Your DVDs complement your book very well.”  D. Carrozzino

“I thought I would let you know your DVD is the best.  I have bought several from artists and

found yours complete and easy to understand.”  J. Yarbrough

“Your enclosures (the materials list, the several photos) are a wonderful help.  You have really made

a fabulous "learning tool" with your production!!!  I think the part that makes your

DVD unique is the camera position, which is set up for the VIEWER to see at his/her BEST!

And it is shown "close-up and personal"!  You let the viewer be RIGHT THERE on the part you are painting,

and your way of showing and explaining is just excellent. GREAT way to LEARN!!!”    B. Strasen

“I have received the DVDs and they are wonderful.

Fully informative and actually the best instructional videos I've seen.”  A. Moore

Luminous Color with Underpainting and Glazing:

Hard and shiny fruits with brass

is the first in the Luminous Color with Underpainting and Glazing series,

and presents the techniques for painting with

gorgeous transparent colors over a reflective underpainting.

This DVD will show you how to create an underpainting in oils

with enough white in it so that when

the transparent glaze colors are painted on top of it,

the glaze colors will glow with light.

I love this technique for several reasons,

but the qualities that I love most about it are

the luminosity and beauty of the colors.

I used colorful objects because it is so much fun

and so satisfying to watch these beauties come alive

with the technique of underpainting and glazing.

The objects are all shiny and reflective,

so it is also a lesson on how to create those illusions.

Some of the topics that are presented include:

The how’s and why’s of a toning layer

Using mop brushes to smooth out your paint

                                                        Mixing colors for the underpainting

Brush techniques for blending the paint

                                                        Color choices for glazing

How to apply glazes for maximum luminosity

Confidently building the dark areas of a painting

Creating the illusion of “shine” and reflections

                                                        Time:  Approximately 2 hours

Elegant Drapery

In this DVD I present the thought and painting processes

for creating successful rolls, folds and wrinkles in drapery.

Fabric can be a wonderful addition to so many compositions,

but can be intimidating to draw and paint.

By paying attention to three simple elements

you will learn how to confidently paint the forms and movements of fabric;

from simple rolls and wrinkles to areas that are more complex.

Although the painting was done in oils, the ideas and techniques can be used in any media.

                                                            Glazing the shadow

                                                            Mixing “whites”

How flower petals are like drapery folds
