DISCONNECTION                             17 x 14

Thoughts on DISCONNECTION...

One of today's issues that is very important to me is the loss of connection that we have from

the earth, which supports most of our physical needs.

I had these two calla lilies and just couldn't get them to do what I wanted in a vase,

and was holding them up to the light to see how pretty they were and decided that the

best way to arrange them was like this, so I taped them to the wall.

And then I looked at their cut stems

and they looked very naked and vulnerable,

so below them I placed the rocks that I use to symbolize the earth.

I wanted the space between the stems and the rocks to be enough to show the disconnection,

but not so much that all hope of connection is lost.

And I had a lot of fun creating the trompe l'oeil effect with the flowers and tape.

It is so much fun when these illusions work!
