HOT STUFF:  FRIENDS                                                               24 x 28

Thoughts on HOT STUFF:  FRIENDS

The people at one of my galleries asked me to do some paintings for a theme show

that was called Fuego, which is Spanish for fire.  As I was brainstorming, I came up with the idea of

"hot stuff", and since it was fall, there was a great variety of peppers available at the local

farmer's markets.  I love the array of interesting shapes and the bright and shiny colors.

I thought they would look good in baskets,

which would create interesting textural contrast. And I was right,

but I liked them better just sitting on the tabletop.

Then when I started to draw them,

their actual size seemed to small to express their exuberant colors and shapes,

so I decided to draw and paint them big....really big!
