Thoughts on JOURNEYS
This was one of those paintings that happened as a series of ideas and presents the universal story of life
The marble top of the table and the green stones are all pieces of "earth", where we all begin.
The wood table supports them and holds the whole composition together,
just as trees support our planet and it's atmosphere.
The spiral carved in it represents the spiral of life.
The nest is the home that we are each born into.
The vase is made of clay, and represents the body that carries each soul.
It is red, the symbolic color of life.
And the curly willow sticks represent the paths that we can choose from.
Each one travels in various, and sometimes unplanned directions.
Birds are symbolic of the spirit world that we each enter when our earthly journey ends.
Each one has threads that disappear into the light.
