SOLITARY DIVA 19 x 23 Thoughts on SOLITARY DIVA I received this elegant centerpiece bowl as a gift, and at the same time I had some wonderful Casa Blanca lilies. It was just serendipity that I had them to look at at the same time. I couldn't help but try putting them together, and I liked the way the active curves of the lily were echoed in a quiet way by the curves of the glass. It was December, so the sunlight was low, which is my favorite angle for drama. It seemed that a bright color around the lily and bowl would overwhelm them, but I wanted the setting to be dramatic. A trip through my fabric collection supplied the additional inspiration (and then some). The dramatic winter light on the satin and flower was absolutely incredible! The stage was set for this beautiful diva of a flower.
