Thoughts on Clouds Over Velvet...

I was so thrilled when I saw these irises blooming in my garden this year.
The gorgeous velvetiness of the lower petals that
fall like graceful drapery was absolutely mesmerizing.
They were so stunning to me that I went out and looked at them
several times each day so that I could take in their beauty.
I was captivated by the richness of the red-violet color and
the way it is very dark violet in the shadows and bright pink in the light areas.
And the bright white petals above, with their billowy shapes, are such a great contrast.
The beauty and variety of nature always inspires and humbles me.
