INSTRUCTIONAL DVDS with Jane Jones

Created to help YOU on YOUR JOURNEY AS AN ARTIST!!!

DVD 1.  LUMINOUS COLOR WITH UNDERPAINTING AND GLAZING: Hard and shiny fruits

This DVD will teach you how to use the technique of underpainting and glazing that many of the Old Master artists used to create luminous effects in their paintings.  But I have updated the technique so that modern, safe materials are used to paint the underpainting that is layered with beautiful transparent glazes.  The final effect in the painting is that the objects glow with an inner light and life.  You will learn brush techniques so that your paint is smooth as you develop the forms of the objects with a neutral brown underpainting.  Then you will learn how to apply layers of transparent color on top of the underpaintings as these beauties come to life in your painting.  You will see how you can slowly build the darks in your painting so that you get drama and depth that brings a painting to life.  This is a great DVD for learning the technique for beginners, or for more advanced artists who want to add a new technique to their abilities.

The DVD comes in a DVD case with the line drawing that can be enlarged, reference photos and a list of supplies and color mixes that are used.

Length:  Approximately 2 hours                Cost: $49                 CLICK HERE to place your order.

DVD 2.  ELEGANT DRAPERY

In this DVD you will learn the thought and painting processes for creating successful rolls, folds and overlaps in drapery.  Fabric can be a wonderful addition to so many compositions,  but can be intimidating to draw and paint.   By paying attention to three simple elements  you will learn how to confidently paint the forms and movements of fabric;  from simple rolls and wrinkles to areas that are more complex.  You will be able to add dynamic or simple draperies as interesting elements to your paintings!

You will also learn brush technique, how to mix colors for a "white" flower, and how flower petals are like drapery.

Although the painting was done in oils, the ideas and techniques can be used in any media.

The DVD comes in a DVD case with the line drawing that can be enlarged, reference photos and a list of supplies and color mixes that are used.

Length:  Approximately 2 hours              Cost: $49                  CLICK HERE to place your order.

DVD 3.  INTRODUCTION TO PAINTING CLEAR GLASS

This DVD will show you, step-by-step, how to paint a piece of simple clear glass. You will learn how to paint this piece, but also how to think about the process so that you can paint a simple piece of clear glass in your still life.  You will also learn the three things to keep in mind while you paint glass, and how to mix the colors of "clear" glass, and how to make the shines really stand out. The illusion of clear glass can be intimidating, but this DVD breaks it into small, easy steps. Once you create your own illusion of glass, you will be hooked!

You will also learn how to paint the simple petals of a pansy that glows with color and personality.

Although the demonstration is done with oils, the process can be done in any media.

The DVD comes in a DVD case with the line drawing that can be enlarged, reference photos and a list of supplies and color mixes that are used.

Length:  Approximately 2 hours               Cost: $49                 CLICK HERE to place your order.

DVD 4.  ILLUSIONS OF LIGHT, SHADOW AND FORM

In this DVD you will learn the basic forms of cube, cylinder, cone and sphere.  You will see how light affects the communication and mood of a painting. You will also learn how to analyze forms and construct them in your paintings

to create the illusions of dimension and light. You will learn the limitations of the information in photographs

so that you can take control of the images and create a good representation of reality based on what you know. If you want believable realism in your paintings, then this DVD is a must have!!!  A good foundation in creating the illusions of volume with the basic forms is necessary for every artist, and this DVD has it all!

Although oil is used in the demonstrations, the information is good for all media, and subject matter.

The DVD comes in a DVD case with the line drawing that can be enlarged, reference photos and a list of supplies and color mixes that are used.

Length:  Approximately 2 hours                 Cost: $49                CLICK HERE to place your order.

DVD 5. CREATING LUSCIOUS COLORS WITH COLORED UNDERPAINTINGS

Create these dazzling colors with underpainting and glazing.  The difference here is that the underpainting has color! Opaque colors can be beautiful, but the brightest ones are transparent and are best used as glazes.  To create the brightest color, I show you how to create a colored underpainting that will create colors that glow with life and light.  The keys to a successful underpainting are presented along with how to create the illusion of light in your underpainting.  Then you will learn how to create glazes that add glorious depth and richness to your painting.

You will also see how I made changes to the working photo to create a better painting.

The DVD comes in a DVD case with the line drawing that can be enlarged, reference photos and a list of supplies and color mixes that are used.

Length:  Approximately 2 hours                 Cost: $49                CLICK HERE to place your order.

DVD 6. PAINTING THE ILLUSION OF CUT GLASS

Cut glass can be so beautiful in a painting and with this DVD you will learn how to successfully break down the process into controllable steps, which makes it easier than you might think.  The distortions and abstract shapes are fascinating and fun to paint.  You will learn how to make soft folds in drapery, and how to photograph glass.  Also included is how to create dimension and shine in your cut glass, and how the size of the painting contributes to the communication of your painting.  Begin with this painting and learn the thought process so that you can add your special pieces of glass to your paintings.  So give it a try and watch the magical illusions come alive from your brushes.

DVD 7. PAINTING THE BEAUTY OF COLORED GLASS

Incorporating colored glass into your painting is a visual treat; it’s like painting stained glass.  Learn how to paint the foundation for the glass and then paint layers of color to achieve the richness and depth of the colors of glass, as well as the dimensionality of the piece.  Each layer is presented in detail with tips about how to be successful with this painting and any simple piece of colored glass that you want to add to your paintings.  Two different techniques and approaches for painting colored glass are presented so you will know how to approach painting ANY piece of colored glass.

All of these DVDs were filmed in my studio with me and my painting.

They were not professionally produced, however all of the mastering was done

by professionals.  Using professional camera people and equipment would significantly

increase my costs, which I would have to pass on to you.

The information and teaching are the same as you would receive

no matter how these DVDs were filmed.

Here are some of the very lovely compliments that I have been honored to receive about my DVDs...

" I have watched 2 of the 3 DVDs that I have.  I love the detail that you put into your paintings.

I just finished watching Creating Luscious Colors with Colored Underpaintings.

I have to admit that at first it was hard to get through the underpainting of the yellow tulip,

but when you started on the glazing, I got the feeling that it was just "working",

and a chill went down my spine.

Gorgeous!"  H. Dodd (Canada)

"Marvelous book and videos!  I think they are the best I’ve seen.  I just love your series.

I can’t wait for the others to come out.

“I thought I would let you know your DVD is the best.  I have bought several from artists and

found yours complete and easy to understand.”  J. Yarbrough

“Your enclosures (the materials list, the several photos) are a wonderful help.  You have really made

a fabulous "learning tool" with your production!!!  I think the part that makes your

DVD unique is the camera position, which is set up for the VIEWER to see at his/her BEST!

And it is shown "close-up and personal"!  You let the viewer be RIGHT THERE on the part you are painting,

and your way of showing and explaining is just excellent. GREAT way to LEARN!!!”    B. Strasen

“I have received the DVDs and they are wonderful.

Fully informative and actually the best instructional videos I've seen.”  A. Moore
