Thoughts on Parrot Party...
Many years ago I named a favorite painting “Party Girls” because
these amazing Flaming Parrot Tulips always look to me
like they are having a party.
When I started to grow them in my garden I found out that
some of their leaves twist and twirl like they are having a party too.
They are time consuming to paint, but worth every minute
because they are so joyful and exuberant.
I liked putting them in at various angles so that I could see
how wonderful they are from every direction.
When it came time to title this painting
I knew that the word “party” had to be part of it.
