Thoughts on Perfect Jewels...
At over 4 1/2 feet tall, this is one of my larger paintings,
These are all tulips from my gardens. I feel a special connection to flowers that I have grow
and that makes the painting process extra special.
I loved the glorious colors of the flowers in the bright Colorado sun...they looked like jewels the day that I photographed them,
and that was what I wanted to convey in my painting.
In the painting they are quite a bit over life-size, which makes their beauty even bolder,
and with the velvety black background the colors glow with life...just like the flowers did.
