Spring Stars

SPRING STARS                                                              29 x 30

Thoughts on Spring Stars...

Several years ago I started growing all white Mount Hood daffodils.
I love their sculptural qualities and how determined they are to grow,
even pushing up through the rocks of a short garden wall and snow.
The slender dark green leaves show off
the drama of the large white cup and petals beautifully.

I was so in love with the white ones that I started growing
peach and pink varieties and love them for their delicacy. They are an interesting
contrast with the strong forms of their Mount Hood cousins.
This composition shows off an array of them
and how they look like stars fallen to earth on cloudy late winter days.
